What happens when utopia meets everyday life? An order is broken up, what is firmly established is set in motion, conditions start to dissolve. We did not want to treat the two concepts as opposites in our design, but as forces that produce their own unique forms when they meet. In this way, we refer to how the artefacts and everyday objects of the former GDR are collected and exhibited in the Museum Utopia and Everyday Life: off the beaten track.
In a co-creative process, we developed the name and the brand Museum Utopia and Everyday Life together with the curatorial team. Two collections unite under the new roof: one for everyday culture and one for art of the GDR.
