The “Musikschule Bregenzerwald” is a public music school in the rural region of Bregenzerwald, Austria. The redesign was a very special process. Flexibility was one of the most important requirements. The creation of a visual identity with pictures of the people involved was almost impossible. A lot of images could not be implemented, while respecting the privacy rights of the students, mostly kids. So, the designers chose to take a different - for the region - progressive path. They started creating a vital and colorful design by visualizing tones, music and volume through different wavy lines. Every instrument taught at music school has its own colors, its own pitch, its one pace, its own sound wave… The different colored layers can work as a standalone visual element - as a striking placeholder, when images are not available – or can be combined, like instruments are in an orchestra.
