Overhaul and redesign of the AIL corporate design. At its inception, the AIL was conceived as a platform for art, science and artistic research. The task was to overhaul and redesign the very strong visual language expressing the urgency to connect these two disciplines, accommodating the communication of a great variety of event categories and media formats, while addressing a culturally interested and visually literate audience. The CD translates the centre’s urgent mission by the use of bold typography, and abstracted imagery. The abstract nature of logotype is an amalgam of the host’s identity (the University of Applied Arts Vienna) and the centre’s own name. The typeface Helvetica Neue – used in the weights of medium and bold – reflects the pragmatic nature of the mission and vision. It – like the centre – facilitates the generation and transmission of content.
