VinziRast is one of Austria's most important institutions for homeless people. In order to collect donations and to ensure that the matters of homeless people are seen and heard even in the overshadowing corona crisis, we have crafted memorials that impressively demonstrated the important social role of VinziRast. By using a material, that like no other material, unambiguously symbolizes the sad situation of unsheltered people: Cardboard boxes were collected and assembled to life-sized cardboard figures. Each figure tells the true story of a previously homeless person who finally found a home in one of VinziRast’s night shelters or social housings. The artworks became touching symbols, fragile but proud memorials that stood at the center of an integrated 360° campaign that made real stories behind the characters come alive. With campaigns in Vienna's most popular places, including audio stories that could be experienced using QR codes.
