Project Description

The Maria Skłodowska-Curie Museum in Warsaw is located in the 18th-century tenement house where the two-time Nobel laureate was born. Maria's mother ran a girls' school in the building. As we began designing the visual identification system, our main goals were to create a system that was innovative in form, easy to implement, affordable (we operated on a very limited budget), and referred directly to Marie Skłodowska-Curie. Additionally, the investor indicated the desire to emphasize the unique character of the building and visually indicate that the school was run by the Curie family as well.

We came up with a simple execution idea - the wayfinding system would glow in the dark, emitting a characteristic green light (typical of radionuclides with which Maria has worked). It has been painted with a luminous paint that absorbs light from its surroundings and glows after dark - it emits a characteristic greenish glow (originally this type of paint was used for marking escape paths).
