For an audio walk along the former course of the Ottakringer Bach, we designed a map that superimposes different historical layers of the city and in this way makes urban development comprehensible.
We consciously decided to use the analogue map as an information medium, since it manages to give a general overview while at the same time maintaining a high level of detail. The map was printed on high-quality, uncoated paper in three special colours: silver-green for the current situation, neon-orange for selected urban features of Vienna around 1820, dark blue for the course of the stream and the original, unregulated course of Vienna’s large bodies of water. The back of the map describes the individual chapters of the audio walk, which are made available free of charge via an associated website.
