Unsettling, shocking, disturbing – "LUZIFER" by director Peter Brunner and producer Ulrich Seidl brings the abysses of the human soul to the screen. The raw barrenness of the Alpine setting perfectly reflects the fissured inner life of the protagonists.

Precisely this rawness and intensity is also conveyed by the graphic and title design: Typography and colouring show the inner turmoil of the characters. The signal colour orange, often used in forestry and construction work, highlights the harsh contrast between intact nature and the technology invading it, and at the same time symbolises the infernal fire of rage that eats into peaceful souls.

In addition to nominations for Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Director and Best Original Music, "LUZIFER" won the Boccalino d'oro for Best Director at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival.
