Project Description

For 100 years, Plansee has specialized in the processing of molybdenum and tungsten – rare, heavy, heat-resistant and hard metals. The end products can be found in aviation, smartphones, medical technology, and much more.

This book reflects the 100-year success story, values, products, and manufacturing processes.

The complexity of powder metallurgy – from coarse ore to high-tech product – forms the common thread: powdery-rough paper, metallic foils, high-contrast design, precise processing and – like the two metals – solely kept in black and white and shades of gray.

Components from Plansee can be found everywhere in everyday life – obviously in books as well! A molybdenum and a tungsten plate, each weighing 400 grams, adorn the cover and become visible through a grid laser, turning the book into a true heavyweight.
