Anniversary book for a non-profit: Swiss brochure, soft cover, and open spine are symbolic of the modest, open nature of the dedicated people of SONNE.
SONNE shows a path OUT OF POVERTY (front cover). The answer to how is on the back cover: THROUGH EDUCATION. The front page cut subtly brings us two messages in one place, which only emerge when the book is bent to slightly fan the pages in one direction or the other — OUT OF POVERTY / FOR 20 YEARS. The title is a path in itself, because the path out of poverty is not an easy one. Like the full book title, SONNE beneficiaries —members of the lowest castes, nomads, street children — often go unnoticed, too.
4 project nations are presented on white paper interspaced with pale yellow pages. Here, the text in the columns is set wider, focusing on the project nations, just as SONNE focuses on those in need of help. The quotes and strong indentations are also striking, both highlighting the most important messages in the book.
