Project Description

'Genootschap Architectura et Amicitia’ is an association of architects and persons from related fields, which has been involved in organizing travels and lectures since 1855. In 2021 they created the book APPENDIX 2 AetA 2006-2020, as an appendix to a larger book they made (1992). The book is a collection: activity reports, illustrated portraits, interviews and an essay (architect Madeleine Steigenga). They are put together chronologically according to the years and divided into four parts. The book shows in word and design that architectural life has peaks and valleys; economic boom (2006-2007), crisis and transformation (2008-2012), recovery and new roles (2013-2019) and insecurity and looking forward (2020). These are literally transformed into the shape of the book, each with a distinct color. Just like an architect designs a building and architectural lines are arising in a landscape, the design of the book creates changing compositions of form and color in the book.
