The series and the publication "Siva Boja" endeavor to document a "colorful black". This neutral black is a mixture of colored pigments and results in a colorless hue containing no black pigment. At the same time, this project by the artist Drago Persic documents the special characteristics and various nuances of the historical green-earth pigment, which traditionally forms the basis of the tone incarnadine.
The bookdesign underlines the concept and character of the artist’s work. Each painting is contrasted with color dots representing the color pigments used. Explanations, captions and pagination have been deliberately omitted.
The book index gives the interested viewer information about the pigments. The design intertwines the main part and index and invites active discovery. For the cover, the grey back of the cardboard has been turned inside out, referring to the Serbo-Croatian title of the book, "Siva Boja", meaning "grey color”.
