The catalog was designed especially for an exhibition of Ukrainian modern artist Andriy Sahaidakovsky and includes well-known works as well as photos of a total installation and continues the series of catalogs, reflecting the institution’s work in the field of Ukrainian modern art.
Sahaidakovsky’s creative method is based on the use of familiar things in an unusual way. In his work, the artist uses anomalous sounds, pungent and specific odors, trash materials, gnarly inscriptions.
The artist usually finds carpets (kylymky) near trash dumpsters and this was the key to the overall idea of a typographic concept: a display typeface was based on a vernacular sign advertising the dining room found somewhere in Zatoka (Odessa region). Combining incorrectness and stencil character, inspired by the artist’s inscriptions on his works, I’ve created a new typeface and named it after Andriy Sahaidakovsky’s nickname Didu (Didu in Ukrainian means an old man)
