What do complexity researchers do? They process large data sets with a standardized set of scientific tools to identify specific patterns within them. As a visual metaphor for this process, a fictitious production line has been designed, at the end of which the insights gained are compressed into "gems". To explain individual projects, process diagrams - no less unscientific - are designed for this purpose.
Many facts (such as the widely ramified organization of the company) were elaborately visualized for this publication, and all the diagrams provided were also translated into a uniform visual language.
The format of the volume is cut at the bottom corner in such a way that it cannot stand upright on the bookshelf, but always curiously peeks out a bit.
