The bilingual publication "Conceptual Joining" documents an artistic research project dedicated to wood as a building material. The complex logic of the material as well as classical joining techniques from different cultures were investigated. With the help of digital tools, the findings were translated into experimental spatial structures. Selected guest contributions illuminate the topic in its historical-craftsman context and show ways to a sustainable building culture.
The design of the book follows the content structure and reflects the processual nature of the project. The color concept evolved from the colors used in the project, transforming them and developing into an analogy of wood and the Styrodur used in model making.
The outer form of the book follows the impression of a "workbook" and refers to the characteristics of a published experimental process.
