Slowed and Throwed: Records of the City Through Mutated Lenses is a two-part interdisciplinary exhibition orbiting around the legacy of the late Houston legend DJ Screw. The exhibition features unconventional photography and new media created by strategies paralleling the musical methods of the innovative DJ. In their photo-adjacent practices, the participating artists appropriate, mash-up, collage, and mutate photographic inputs, in addition to slowing time. The publication is featuring commissioned essays from Big Bubb, Dr. Regina N. Bradley, E.S.G., CiarĂ¡n Finlayson, Maco Faniel, Julie Grob, Devin Kenny, Patricia Restrepo, Lance Scott Walker, and Will-Lean. The publication contained full-color reproductions of artworks, installation views, an exhibition checklist, and reproductions of archival material.
