Dracula is a tale about a bloodthirsty and all-too-human monster. Dracula is also a narrative from the inner life of a monster. However, this monster was not granted its own inner life by its author Bram Stoker. It is a novel character without its own mirror image, perhaps even without its own self-image. Dracula probably exists only as an inner voice. However, the novel hardly gives him the opportunity to carry his voice to the outside world. This is what distinguishes Dracula from all the other characters in the novel: they can constantly present their perspective on the story in the form of diary entries, protocols and letters, Dracul can't. So I take the perspective of Dracula in my illustrations and try to give a marginalized novel character a voice and his own story, which is denied to his in the novel that bears his name.
