Vienna – Athene und Nike
Titelbild zu Vienna – Athene und Nike

Project Description

Pallas Athene and Nike are taking care of the Austrian Parliament with a protective eye of the heart of Vienna. Athena is the goddess of knowledge, reason, strategic talent and also a symbol of freedom. She powerfully protects outwards and ensures inner peace through wise jurisdiction. It also symbolizes parliamentarism and the timeless validity of democracy.

She hold Nike, the goddess of victory, in her outstretched hand. This symbolizes the success of the guardian of parliament and thus the superiority of parliamentarism.

Dreams and visions blossom in Vienna, the city is a symbol of openness, freedom and steadfastness, of tradition, culture and progress, of education and quality craftsmanship, of faith and love.

The Art Nouveau illustration hides mosaics, such as from St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Votive Church, the Ferris wheel, the Viennese star night sky on 22/2/22, the butterflies in the Butterfly House and the flora of the gardens.
