Geschichten beim Gehen

Project Description

THE STORIES´ WALK

A young woman walks her paths through Dornbirn, a city with about 50.000 inhabitants. She lives in the centre of the town, wanders through it mostly on foot, for a wide variety of purposes and always eyes wide opened. She discovers that the more she walks the same path, the more she is able to perceive: things apart from the everyday.
In this visual essay, she collected her stories that were written through walking. They create an overall image (though not an entirely) containing texts, notes, illustrations, graphical works, photographs and moving pictures.

The Stories´ Walk is a research project (a thesis of the InterMedia master´s degree programme at the Fachhochschule Vorarlberg) that transfers a theory of the constitution of space (The Practice of Everyday Life by Michel de Certeau) in a visual appearance.
This work acts as an example of research through design methods – resulting in two books: O, the book of place (=Ort) and R, the book of space (=Raum).
